Women's Christian Fellowship (WCF) is a prayer/Bible study dedicated to glorifying God by bringing women into a more intimate relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior through the use of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, prayer and praise, meditation, scripture study and loving fellowship. That is our charism statement and we have been inviting women for over 35 years to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. No previous Bible study experience is necessary.
Although WCF has over 200 members presently on its roster who come to share the Word of God, receive prayer, healing, fellowship and spiritual guidance for 21/2 hours each Thursday, from September through May at the parish center of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carlsbad, California, the group had rather humble beginnings.
Angie Lake, Teaching Leader of WCF had a desire to know and share Jesus Christ and His Word with other women. In 1979, Lake invited four friends into her home, and over coffee, they opened their Bibles and began reading, praying together and sharing what the Holy Spirit put on their hearts to share.
As the number of women interested in joining their fledgling group swelled, Monsignor Fred Florek, the Founding Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton, invited WCF to bring the group into St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church under the auspices, prayers and protection of the Parish.
